Oscar nominees dish on their red-carpet underwear

BEVERLY HILLS — Anyone who knows their Oscars knows that nominees’ fashion plans are strictly top secret until the big day. They seem to be more revealing about their designer undergarments, though.

While it may fit into the too-much-information file, some of the year’s most celebrated actors and directors aren’t afraid to talk about the product placement underneath those tuxes and gowns.

“What I do, because I get chilly, I like to wear long johns. The full one with the trap door in the back,” said a joking George Clooney, a double nominee for his leading role in “The Descendants” and his adapted screenplay for “The Ides of March.”

Nominated “Descendants” director Alexander Payne declined to describe his planned underwear, so Clooney spoke for him.

DIY – Table Centerpieces from The Yes Girls Events

Earlier this year we featured the marriage proposal story of EB Bride, Kendall (from The Yes Girls Events).  Her oh-so-romantic fiance planned the perfect proposal complete with a custom painting depicting their proposal, a self-made scrapbook of their life together, and a love note.  .  Kendall and Tommy were recently married with a beautiful outdoor ceremony and reception in Southern California.  Here is a sneak peek

Kendall is one crafty gal including many DIY elements to her wedding, including her table centerpieces.  With floral centerpieces starting at about $50 each, these centerpieces are fun to do and will keep some money in your handbag.  Ive asked Kendall to share how we can create something similar:

Classic L.L. Bean duck boot has become a fashion trend

BRUNSWICK, Maine — A nearly century-old hunting boot is catching on with a younger generation that sees the utilitarian footwear as hip.

L.L. Bean’s familiar duck boot with leather uppers and rubber soles — designed for slogging through mud and snow — has become something of a fashion statement owing to its newfound popularity on college campuses, the company says. Another reason is new styles, including something Leon Leonwood Bean surely never envisioned in 1912: bright blue and pink leather, new for spring.

Part of the success of the boot is its versatility, in barnyards or in cities, in snow or rain.

At Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Zina Huxley-Reicher, of New York, wears her dark brown, shearling-lined boots nearly every day, with a skirt or jeans.
